High-Flying Aberdeen Directors Sign Up for Fundraiser
Two Aberdeen directors took to the skies to raise funds for a North-east charity.
Rubberatkins Managing Director Nick Atkins and fellow director Jill Webster signed up to Wing Walk for Urological cancer charity UCAN, as part of the Emmerdale Extravaganza at Inchmarlo Golf Course in June. The charity is hoping to raise £2million over the next three years to create facilities in Aberdeen so scientists can undertake pioneering research, raise awareness of the disease and cancer sufferers can be cared for to the highest standard.
The wing walk involved Nick and wife Jill being strapped to the wing of a 1940s Bi-Plane as it glided through the skies of Royal Deeside on 3rd June, which coincided with a special date – their wedding anniversary.
Nick added: “ This has been the most memorable wedding anniversary we have had and I’m not sure how we can top that. We have been working hard to raise sponsorship over the past few weeks and have had excellent support from family, friends, business colleagues, customers and suppliers".
Jill added: “The experience, although rather terrifying, was wonderful and quite thrilling and it was a great way to raise as much money as possible for UCAN. The two planes were literally a few feet apart and it was just as well we had confidence in our pilots”.
The final figure raised for UCAN was over £5000.Back to latest news
